Pet Visitation
Pet Visitation - Putting Smiles on the faces of seniors

Pet visitation is certainly not for everyone. One has to be committed, as the seniors need to know that it will be a regular happening - not something that happens one week and then not the next - no calling up in the morning just because you don't want to do it.
One has to make sure the dog is steady, has a temperament to withstand being handled by many people.  And won't be frightened by the walkers, wheelchairs and canes that are usual fare in a Nursing Home.
Coronation Pondside Alligator (aka Gator) is the smallest in the group weighing in at about 3.5 lbs.  She loves to be petted, and held so is a natural for the job.  She's little so can easily sit on laps - without fear of being too heavy.  She gets along well with the others in the group made up of two Belgians, another Pom (her special friend - Furby), a Westy, and an Australian Shepherd.  Pictured here is her special friend "Furby" owned and loved by Marg Clark of Thamesville.
Gator wears her custom made backpack to carry her special treats to keep her going through the usual two hour trek in and out of rooms - on beds and off again.
The smiles seen on the faces of the residents make it all worthwhile.
It's not the conformation ring, not obedience, there are no titles, no fame.
It's making other people happy.
